Tehran’s interim Friday prayers leader said the West is supporting Takfiris and Salafism in different countries with the aim of destabilizing the Muslim world.

Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani made the remark while delivering Friday prayer sermons at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) on December 27.

He added that the West is also making attempts to present a distorted image of Islam to the world on the one hand and spread discord and divisions between Shia and Sunni Muslims on the other.

The senior cleric noted that since the 1979 victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has been facing conspiracies and plots hatched by the West.

He referred to the events that took place after the 2009 presidential elections as one example of the West’s conspiracies whose purpose was to undermine the Islamic Republic’s establishment.

Ayatollah Mohammad Kashani further pointed to the recent agreement reached between Iran and the G5+1 (five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany), saying that it proved that Iran does not seek nuclear weapons.

He underlined that the Iranian nation is a powerful nation who will never compromise its dignity and whose power will never diminish.

In his first sermon, Tehran’s interim Friday prayers leader elaborated on the meaning of Iffat (chastity) and urged the youth to exercise Taqwa (God-fearing).
