Over 70 Killed, Injured in Twin Suicide Attacks in Iraqi Capital
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraqi security sources said twin bomb attacks in central Baghdad have killed and injured some 70 people.
According to Shafaq News website, a security source said two suicide bombers wearing explosive vests detonated their vests simultaneously at Tayaran (aviation) Square in the Iraqi capital on Monday morning.
The source said at least 17 people, mostly construction workers, were killed and 50 others wounded in the attacks.
The Iraqi Interior Ministry, meanwhile, said in a preliminary statement that at least 26 people were killed and 65 others wounded in the attacks.
The fatalities are expected to rise.
The Iraqi capital has experienced relative security in the weeks after the defeat of the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) Takfiri terrorist group in early December.
