Dubai Int’l Quran Award Donates Dh500,000 to Moscow Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The (Dihqa), as part of a line-up of activities planned to mark the 'Year of Zayed', has contributed Dh500,000 to the Moscow International Quran competition (MIQC).

 

As per the agreement inked at the Dihqa headquarters in Al Mamzar area, the Dihqa is to cover all the expenses of MIQC's 19th edition. 

"We will contribute Dh500,000 to sponsor MIQC activities," said Ibrahim Mohamed Bu Melha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Head of Dihqa Organizing Committee, KTimes.

"MIQC spares no effort to spread and promote the tolerant teachings of Islam, encourage Quran memorization and take care of Quran memorizers," Bu Melha said. "The competition, one of the biggest in Europe, annually sees large numbers of Quran memorizers from all over the world. 

MIQC is naming the 19th session of the global competition the 'Zayed Al Khair' edition, he added. "The logos of the Year of Zayed and Dihqa are to be placed on all the competition's advertisements, promos, correspondence and publications." 

Dr Rushan Abbasov, senior deputy Chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis, said MIQC - held in October every year - is supported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Government of Moscow. 

An exhibition on the Holy Quran manuscripts, books and Islamic attire is always held on the sidelines of the competition, he stated.
