TEHRAN (IQNA) – Al-Azhar University in Egypt plans to hold a Quranic competition for the foreign students of the university.

According to youm7.com, Quran memorization, speech and methods of interaction, Quran recitation, poetry, Islamic calligraphy and arts are the categories of the competition.

Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy (AIRA) will organize the competition aiming to identify and develop the skills of the foreign students in different Quranic, cultural and scientific fields.

Mohie Ed-Deen Afifi, secretray general of the academy, said that the participants in Quran memorization category will compete on the memorization of the entire Quran, three quarters, 15 Juzes (parts) and one quarter of the Quran.

He said that top 10 participants in each category will be awarded.

More information about the competition’s rules, eligibility and prizes is available on the website of the academy, he added.

Afifi said that after evaluation of the students in each category, the academy will hold educational courses for the participants.

The courses are meant to help the foreign students enhance their level of knowledge to be good representatives for Al-Azhar in their own countries, accoding to the Egyptian official.
