TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian Tawasheeh (religious singing) group has performed a number of Tawasheeh and Quran recitation programs in Pretoria and other cities in South Africa.

The Taha group has travelled to South Africa on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan in coordination with the Iranian Cultural Center in the country.

The programs have been held in mosques and Islamic and cultural centers in the city.

The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization’s International Propagation Center has dispatched the group.

Every year during Ramadan, Iran sends Quran activists and Tawasheeh groups to different countries to hold Quranic and religious programs.

South Africa is a country on the southernmost tip of the African continent.

Islam is a minority religion in South Africa, practiced, according to 2015 estimates, by roughly 2 percent of the total population.
