Int’l Quran Contest Underway in Moscow

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 19th edition of Russia’s international Quran contest got underway in Moscow on October 18.

 

 According to al-akhbar website, Rawi Ainuddin, President of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation chaired the opening ceremony of the Quranic event, named “Zaid Al-Khayr” .

The program was attended by a number of scholars, Quran reciters and memorizers as well as Muslim figures such as Walid Isaa Shu’aib, a representative of Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqaf in religious affairs and Sami Gargash, a member of Dubai International Holy Quran Award.

As many as 33 Quran activists from different parts of the world have taken part in this edition of the competition.

Abuzar Karami, the 29-year-old Iranian memorizer of the entire Quran, is representing the Islamic Republic in the Quran memorization category of the competition.
