AL-QUDS (IQNA) – The far-right cabinet of the Israeli regime is expected to approve today the construction of a new illegal settlement in the Lower Galilee.

Illegal Israeli settlements

The regime’s construction and housing minister Yitzhak Goldknopf announced last week that on Sunday he plans to bring forward a bill proposal for the first establishment in years of a new settlement in the Lower Galilee for Zionist settlers, which will be named Ramat Arbel.

"Beyond increasing supply and lowering housing prices, this has important news for strengthening Jewish settlement in the Galilee," Goldknopf stated.

The far-right Israeli regime cabinet, headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, has repeatedly expressed its commitment to nonstop construction of settlements for Israeli Jewish settlers, including in the territories occupied by Israel since 1967.

More than 600,000 Zionists live in over 230 illegal settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds.

All the settlements are considered illegal under international law. The UN Security Council has condemned in numerous resolutions the Israeli regime's settlement constructions in the occupied territories.

According to human rights groups, acts of violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their property are a daily occurrence throughout the occupied West Bank.
