Cleric Underlines Boosting Quranic Group in Parliament

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A member of Iran’s Parliament said the Quran Group in the parliament should be enhanced and it should play a more active role in Quranic fields.

 

Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mohammad Reza Mirtajeddini referred to the inauguration of the newly-elected parliament earlier this week and said the Quran Group, which had been formed in the Parliament years ago, should be boosted.

He also stressed the need for promoting the Quranic discourse in society and spreading Quranic teachings in society.

The new Parliament was inaugurated on Wednesday morning with President Rouhani, Judiciary Chief Hojatoleslam Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi, and Secretary of the Guardian Council Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati in attendance.

There are 290 seats in the Iranian Parliament. The lawmakers are elected for a 4-year term, with no limitation for the incumbent or former parliamentarians to run again.
