TEHRAN (IQNA) – A new book published in Iran argues that part of poems in Divan-i Kebir has been composed by Shams Tabrizi not Jalāl ad-Dīn Mohammad Rūmī.

Titled “Hasht Qarn Kosuf” [Eight Years of Solar Eclipse], the book was published this week by Takhte Siah publications on the 800th anniversary of Shams Tabrizi’s entry to Konya for meeting with Rumi.

The books's author, Hooshang Maleknia, is trying to depict a new image of Shams and his relation with Mawlawi.

He humbly challenges the views of his pioneers and using a logical reasoning, argues that part of the verses in the Divan-i Kebir (also known as Divan-i Shams-i Tabrizi) has been written by Shams Tabrizi himself.

Maleknia also tries to uncover the secrets of “Divan-i Kebir” and “Discourse of Shams Tabrizi”.

Some of the critics believe the book, comprised of eight chapters, can start a new wave of discussions about Rumi and Shams.
