Why Should We Say Prayers?
God does not benefit from our prayer (Salah). Our failure to hold prayers will also not harm Him.
If we say Salah, we will achieve the purity of the soul and can avoid sins, and if we neglect it, we will be deprived of its spiritual and social effects and will be dealt with in the hereafter due to ingratitude to God.
Our perfection and happiness depend on servitude to God and this is manifested through Salah.
This worship always reminds us of God and the remembrance of God prevents us from humiliation, oppression, sin, and corruption. A person who is a servant of God does not become a prisoner of Satan and a slave of lust. The one who performs the prayer will no longer submit to the evil powers.
“I Am the only God. Worship Me and be steadfast in prayer to have My name always in your mind.” (Surah Taha, verse 14) In another verse, we read: “(Muhammad), recite to them what has been revealed to you in the Book and be steadfast in prayer; prayer keeps one away from indecency and evil. It is the greatest act of worshipping God. God knows what you do.” (Surah Al-Ankabut, verse 45)
Any action that brings us humility, attention, and servitude to the Merciful Creator, can be considered an act of worship, but since He is our Lord and we are His servants, we should do the act that he likes and has ordered us to do.
