A senior cleric has called for increased unity between Muslim scholars and also for using religious diplomacy to confront problems that are sometimes seen in Muslim countries.

Mohammad Haji Abolqasem Dulabi, an advisor to Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi in clerical affairs, made the remarks while speaking to Syrian officials in Damascus on Sunday.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening religious diplomacy alongside political diplomacy to address cultural and social problems in Muslim countries.

Religious diplomacy, which aims to integrate the dynamics of religious faith with international peacemaking efforts, could help resolve social problems in the Islamic world, according to Dulabi.

He also spoke at a ceremony held at the Syrian national library during his visit to Syria to mark the 34th passing anniversary of the founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, analyzing the basics of Imam Khomeini's political theory and its impact on the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic.

In addition, Dulabi held talks with religious and cultural officials in Aleppo, where he emphasized the role of scholars in the success of the Islamic civilization. He noted that achieving the success of the Islamic civilization requires paying attention to Muslim scholars and building up unity. According to Dulabi, the unity of scholars in all Muslim countries is essential for this purpose.
