The Iranian qari scored 86 points out of 100 and bagged the top prize.
The runner-up was Hadi Fasihi from Afghanistan with 83 points and Muhammad Sayid Ahmed from Mauritania came third with 82.25 points.
The winners of the fourth and fifth titles were Ayad Bassam Muhra from Syria and Ma’az Ayat al-Ain from Italy.
More than 460 qaris from over 30 countries took part in the phone-in Quran competition.
Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Indonesia, Afghanistan and Egypt had the largest numbers of contenders.
Members of the panel of arbiters of this year’s event were from Iran, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Afghanistan.
Titled “Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31), the recitation contest is annually organized by Al-Kawthar TV in the holy month of Ramadan.
Al-Kawthar TV is an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.
