TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran memorizer from Ghana stressed the need for memorizers to also strive to learn interpretation of the Holy Book.

Quran memorizer Amina Ibrahim from Ghana

Amina Ibrahim, who won the top prize in the memorization category (women section) of Iran’s 39th International Holy Quran Competition, told IQNA in an interview that by learning Quran interpretation, memorizers can learn more about the teachings of the Holy Book that has been revealed for the guidance of humanity.

She further hailed Iran for organizing the international Quran competition, saying such events help to attract more youths to the Book of God.

She said the competition provided an opportunity for Quran activists from various countries to learn about one another and different cultures.

Amina Ibrahim also expressed hope that relations between Quranic institutes of her country and the Islamic Republic of Iran will be enhanced.

Asked about her Quranic journey, the 18-year-old memorizer said she started leaning the Quran by heart at the age of 4 with the help of her family.

She said she memorized the entire Holy Book at 14, noting that her brother and sister are also memorizers of the whole Quran.

Amina had previously taken part in the Dubai international Holy Quran Award in 2022 but did not win a rank.

Layla Afara from Lebanon, who attended the Tarteel category in the women section of Iran’s contest, also spoke to IQNA about the event, describing it as a venue for Quran activists from different parts of the world to know each other.

She said she learned the Quran and Tarteel at a major Quran institute in her country. She referred to Belqays Harb Jafar and Hajj Adel Mahmoud Khaili as her Quran teachers.
