Iraqi PM Hails Programs Implemented to Provide Services, Security for Karbala Pilgrims

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani lauded the programs implemented in the holy city of Karbala to ensure security and provide services to pilgrims visiting the city on the occasion of Nimeh Shaaban.

The Iraqi PM traveled to the holy city early on Wednesday to monitor the implementation of the programs in person, Al-Furat News reported.

During the visit, he held talks with security officials as well as officials of other sectors in Karbala Governorate and appreciated their efforts to make sure pilgrims enjoy security and are provided with different services.

He said serving the pilgrims is a duty and the fact that millions of people are visiting the city doubles the responsibility of the government.

The 15th day of the lunar Hijri month of Shaaban, known as Nimeh Shaaban, which falls on Wednesday, March 8 this year, marks the birthday of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent).

Over the past days, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from different parts of Iraq and other countries have visited Karbala to celebrate the auspicious occasion.

Every year, millions of Shia Muslims around the world hold festivities to honor the event.

According to Islamic teachings, Imam Zaman (AS) is the prophesied redeemer, who will revive peace, administer justice and rid the world of evil.
