Special Programs to Be Held at Imam Reza Holy Shrine during Karamat Celebrations

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The holy mausoleum of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad will host special programs during the ten-day Karamat celebrations, an official said,

Hojat-ol-Islam Hossein Shariatinejad, the Islamic development deputy of the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine, said there will be programs for both Iranian and foreign pilgrims.

The Karamat celebrations mark the ten days between the birth anniversaries of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) and Imam Reza (AS), the daughter and son of the 7th Shia Imam.

Sunday, May 21, will be the first day of the lunar Hijri month of Dhul Qaada, which marks the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA).

Imam Reza (AS) birthday anniversary will be celebrated on the 11th day of Dhul Qaada, which falls on Wednesday, May 31, this year.

Hojat-ol-Islam Shariatinejad noted that the main motto of the Karamat Celebrations this year is “We Are All Servants of Imam Reza (AS)”.

A Quran recitation session at the Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine, which will be attended by internationally-acclaimed qaris, are among the programs for the auspicious occasion, he said.

There will also be various religious, cultural, arts, and literary events as well as forums, including one for women on the theme of justice social health and status of women, the official added.
