Hamid Majidimehr, head of the Iranian Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, told IQNA that for the first time, a memorizer from Iran has also been invited to take part in the Quranic event this year.

In previous years, only Iranian qaris were dispatched to Kuala Lumpur to take part in the competition but this year, after consultations made with the organizers, Iran will also have a representative in the memorization of the entire Quran category, he noted.

He added that official invitations have been received for Iran to introduce its representatives in the two categories.

According to Majidimehr, consultations are also underway for more interaction between Iran and Malaysia in the field of organizing Quran competitions.

It is hoped that the talks will lead to participation of an Iranian Quran expert in the Malaysian Quranic event’s panel of judges as well, he stated.
