TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi stressed that people should fully comply with the health protocols, especially in mourning rituals held in the last days of the lunar Hijri month of Safar.

Speaking in a meeting of the National Headquarters for Fighting Coronavirus, the president called for serious attention to the health protocols in the religious rituals of the end of Safar in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Shia Muslims all over the world, including in Iran, organize mourning processions on the last days of the month of Safar.

The 28th day of the month marks the demise anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hassan (AS), the second Shia Imam.

On the 30th day of Safar, Shias mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shia Imam.
