TEHRAN (IQNA) – According to Islamic teachings, the family is based on the foundation of ethics and is formed by divine rules.

This is according to Leila Bahrami, a Ph.D. in women’s studies, who made the remarks in an interview with IQNA. Here is an excerpt from her speech:

The most important way to strengthen the foundation of the family is adherence to religious values because if the foundation of the family is based on obeying God and observing the strict principles based on Sharia and Islamic teachings, the foundation of the family will be cemented more deeply.

If we want to examine the strength and stability of a family, we must see how much its members are connected with God; A deep connection with God will lead to the observance of great principles such as justice in the family, and in this way a person will not be unjust and will always adhere to the laws of Islam.

Couples must fulfill their commitments to religion and act and behave according to the mentioned rules and principles. The family consists of a series of divine laws and decrees. In Islam, the family is based on ethics.

There are many recommendations and teachings in the Holy Quran and narrations of Ahl al-Bahyt (SA) that advise people to treat their family with kindness and express love to them.

The rights defined in Islam to strengthen the foundation of the family guarantee its existence and growth.

For example, when Imam Ali (AS) was asked how he found Hazrat Fatima (SA), he said that she is the best helper to reach God; Therefore, couples should help each other in the path of growth and perfection.

Each member of the family has duties toward the family and others. Respecting the rights of individuals is a must inside the family.

Expressing love, having a good sense of humor, behaving decently, cooperating, and forgiving are among the recommendations that Islam offers to strengthen the foundation of the family.

The man is responsible for providing peace and for expressing love while the woman has the duty of maintaining the authority of the man so that they can manage their family; however, because the mother spends more time with the children, the woman’s role is key to strengthening the foundation of the family.

Couples should respect each other's privacy, observe justice, consider human dignity as a key principle, and not harm each other's self-esteem in order to form a strong and stable family.

When we say that Islam is the last religion, it means that Islam is comprehensive and it contains the necessary teachings for all subjects, but these deep concepts need to be presented to the people of the society.

Strengthening the role of religion and spirituality can prevent crises in the family.
